Behind The Lens

Location

This was the day we got out new puppy Harley! She was always my little model and loved the camera. This was her first photoshoot.

Time

It was around 4pm in the afternoon. I remember walking in from school and my guardian was waiting with her as a surprise.

Lighting

There was a really nice orange light we had on in the room to the left, and natural sunlight coming in from the right, with the main light being the flash on the camera.

Equipment

I used a Canon Rebel T8i for this camera with a 18 -55mm lense.

Inspiration

This was the first dog I'd ever owned, and she was MY dog. Wes only ever had cats, so I was expecting chaos with a dog. What we got instead was a really shy and curious puppy. So small I could lift her with one hand. I've always loved mini photography, and Harley was by far one of the most pretty and eye capturing subjects I've photographed.

Editing

I don't think I did? I was just getting into photography, and didn't really know anything about editing (and if I'm being honest, I still dont.)

In my camera bag

Kind of a trick question for me at the moment. My camera broke on me about 2 years ago, so now all I'm using is my cellphone.

Feedback

Honestly? Candid shots. They're the absolute BEST with animals. We have no way of knowing what animals are thinking, or what they'll do next, so just keep taking your photos, and let nature adjust the photos for you.
