Location
My family and I were just returning from our vacation in Gran Canaria at the time. I took this picture while on the plane. It just so happened that my seat was next to the window, giving me an incredible view to both admire and photograph.Time
It was definitely taken in the afternoon. We were flying over Germany, in the Schwalmtal region, and the sun was already beginning to set for the evening. It cast a beautiful golden light on the chaotic sea of clouds below the plane. The exact time of the photo was Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 15:40, UTC+01:00.Lighting
As for the lighting, the sun was casting a soft, warm glow on those clouds, yet it still managed to create a rather dramatic atmosphere. The contrast between light and shadow brought out the textures and layers of the clouds beautifully, giving the scene a dreamy, almost surreal quality. It makes you want to dance among them in the sky.Equipment
This shot was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, ISO 50, 76 mm, F2.4. I didn’t use any additional equipment for it.Inspiration
Interestingly, I hadn’t planned to take this photo at all—it was completely spontaneous. I often capture random, unplanned moments with my phone, especially when I don’t have my camera with me. It’s just much quicker that way. Of course, when I do plan a photography trip, or I know I’m about to capture something special, then I keep my camera ready at all times.Editing
Other than applying a light filter shade, I didn’t edit this photo further. Though, I’d love to experiment more with editing in the future. :)In my camera bag
My current gear includes a Canon EOS 1000 with an 18–35 mm lens. Although it’s a DSLR, it’s quite lightweight, so I like taking it along on occasional trips or even just wandering the streets of my hometown.Feedback
I believe you always need a bit of spontaneity and randomness to capture a truly unique photo. If everything is planned too rigidly, the magic gets lost—you don’t give that moment of surprise a chance to happen. Keep your phone or camera with you, always ready. And, of course, you have to love clouds. ;)
