Beyond Green Flashes 19 - Yosemite Horsetail Falls at Sunset
From 1862 until 1968 had a man-made spectacle by pushing a bonfire off Glacier Point. It was stopped as not fitting into the natural beauty of Yosemite. Five years after the stopping of the Firefall the great nature photographer Galen Rowell noticed a bright stream of ‘fire’ just a few minutes before sunset on the other side of the Merced River. With no place to stop safely that evening he went back the next day and made the first photographs of the Horsetails Falls, a natural firewall, in Yosemite. This is a very popular event every xxx. Yosemite has special rules for access to the better locations (if you can hike in the backcountry there are other locations).
Horsetail Falls is most active from about 10-28 February and the Park Service has special rules to all the more people to see it.

Are there other locations with events like Horsetail Falls? Probably many, but they are still undiscovered. Look at a map of Horsetail Falls. Note the Sun angle and the angle to the most popular photography spots. Note that Horsetail is NOT happening during the solstice nor during an equinox. It is independent of that. Go outside and look!
