Behind The Lens

Location

This is a pet photo session in Western Sweden. Following the "model" around in the woods.

Time

The late afternoon as the golden sunset lit up the landscape.

Lighting

All natural light. I sometime use flash but here I was using a tele zoom 200-500mm so the flash wouldn't have made much difference, if any from the distance I was at.

Equipment

Nikon D780 and Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 Handheld, crawling around the woods from a good distance to let the cat do its own thing.

Inspiration

I love the fall evening light and cats can be both a challange and delight to follow around.

Editing

Yes but just the regular leveling of exposure, highlights, contrast etc.

In my camera bag

I use almost all Nikon gear, SB700 flash, sirui tripod, I have an older 100mm Tamron macro lens which is fun with gorgeous bokeh.

Feedback

Let the pet do its own thing. Keep a good distance and at the same level as the animal - here low to the ground for the pets perspective which makes the shot more authentic.
